Atrios links to this Think Progress post about Stanley Kurtz claiming:

We need to see peace and democracy in Iraq is icing on the cake. The real goal is the proof of resolve against Iran and others.

Atrios and Think Progress note the idiocy in trying to prove to Iran how tough we are as opposed to trying to accomplish something noble, but the sad thing is, we haven’t even done that. Because I’m sure Iran – for which we kindly replaced a blood enemy with a new ally – is really shaking in its boots over our ability to use our might.
